This shoot is a photographers dream! Living in Colorado I’ve never had the chance to shoot in fog. Lately Colorado has been having a lot of rain so I scheduled this engagement session in the morning and while driving up to Evergreen I was so stoked to see fog everywhere. This foggy Evergreen engagement session at Elk Meadow Park was magical and is one of my favorite shoots to date!

How did you two meet?

We met at Solid Grounds coffee shop, the first time Kenna came to the Summit young adults bible study. It was pretty much interest at first sight! Trent boldly introduced himself and invited her to his house for a Summit BBQ the following weekend and the rest was history!

What do you love most about the other?

What Kenna loves most about Trent: His calm, steady character. His kind eyes. His sense of humor. His work ethic. His generosity. His love for Jesus and others. The fact that he is my very best friend.

What I love most about Kenna is her unconditional love for me. No matter what is going on in my life- stress, anxiety, failures or any other shortcomings she has always been there to lift my spirits and let me know that I am loved. But most importantly she is THERE…..period. To have such a best friend to share my life with is more special than all the gold and jewels in the Lonely Mountain.

Why did you pick your current venue? What’s your favorite part about it?

We picked our venue, The Barn at Raccoon Creek, primarily because we liked the rustic feel of it, but what officially sold us was that it was 25% off regular pricing. Everywhere we looked, we were amazed by how expensive venue rental was! Even with a discount, it’s still turning out to be a ridiculously expensive day but whenever we need a little perspective we remind ourselves that it could be way worse! Thank God for generous parents.

What excites you the most about your wedding day?

I think what excites us the most about our wedding day is that we get to be married! No more saying “goodbye” throughout the week, just “goodnight.” It’ll be nice to actually get to live life together and see each other on a regular basis. Being pronounced as husband and wife and getting to dance together will be such a beautiful picture of what scripture means when it says we’re no longer two but one. Kenna is also pretty excited about being a bride and basically having a day devoted to people gushing about her 🙂

What advice would you give to couples planning their big day?

Kenna’s advice: Figure out how to delegate tasks to people who ask you how they can help. They WILL ask and it’s harder than you think to figure out something they can do for you because you will feel like you have to do it all yourself. Also, six months is a really short time to plan a wedding… but it CAN be done!

Trent’s advice: Come up with a budget and stick to it. Talking about what is truly most important to have at your wedding (non-negotiables, as we called them) and be able to make compromises in order to make the best financial decision without ruining your one wedding day. It is a fine line to walk but I think it can be done if both sides cooperate.
